00:59 orowith2os: would anyone care to share opinions on how to implement a "tearing control" extension for EGL? I'm working on implementing tearing-control-v1 in Mesa and can't decide whether it should be some sort of property that says that eglSwapInterval of 0 is fine to tear, or if it should be a separate "sure, you can tear".
00:59 orowith2os: not sure if there's usefulness in SwapInterval != 0 being allowed to say it can tear too...
01:00 orowith2os: I'm working on just hooking everything up so Mesa can bind to tearing_control_v1 on the EGL side in the first place right now, and about to make it actually tear.
01:07 orowith2os: also not sure if there's anyone to involve in submitting a new extension under the MESA namespace
01:07 orowith2os: regardless one should see a basic PR to Mesa soonish for basic tearing-control handling
01:49 orowith2os: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/44749 is open.
05:24 orowith2os: I've proposed an extension to EGL for !44749 at https://github.com/KhronosGroup/EGL-Registry/pull/228 (EGL_EXT_control_swap_tear)
05:26 orowith2os: er, swap_control_tear.
